Hello!

I’m Sarah Helmick, a Registered and Licensed Dietitian in North Carolina. I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope to be part of your support system as you navigate eating and your relationship with your body in a very diet-culture-y world.

About me

I have always been fascinated with science, medicine, art, and psychology, and originally planned to become a physicians assistant until realizing I could combine all of these interests into being a nutrition counselor. I had never truly loved the feeling of doing a job until taking an undergraduate nutrition counseling class which helped me realize I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

After struggling with my own disordered relationship with food for years, I started to do some of my own research on disordered eating and body image in an effort to find relief for myself. I did not know how difficult it would be to do this on my own, especially while in school for a very weight-centric nutrition and dietetics program. I hope to provide expertise and a listening ear so you do not have to go through this process alone, and know that recovering is possible and worth it. I strive to provide client centered care, with a side of nutrition science and humor when appropriate.

Aside from work, I have lots of other interests! I really enjoy hiking and have hiked all over surrounding areas in NC and several other states in the US. I love traveling and often spend my time going to new places and countries which provides me both the opportunity to try new cultural foods and also broaden my perspective of the world. I am a very hands on person and love doing many different art forms such as crocheting, drawing, painting, collages, digital art and graphic design. I also find a lot of joy in doing pilates or yoga, going snowboarding and skiing, kayaking or going swimming in a cool river, and of course sharing food with people I love.
